On October 8 and 9, 2019, the “Training and Improvement for Institutional Attorneys” course was held by Edux Consultoria in the auditorium of the Vision Work & Live hotel, in Brasília. The course vacancies were fully filled by members of institutions from all over Brazil, with very diverse experiences and different levels of knowledge.
The course was divided into three modules: Scenarios and Challenges of Contemporary Higher Education; Unveiling the e-MEC System: institutional and course processes; Do it yourself: protocols, consultations, registration updates, electronic forms, diligences, resources and counterarguments in the e-MEC System; and ENADE: the role of IPs, Managers and CPA Members for its success.
The contents brought were approached in a very practical way, and involved all the participants. They had direct contact with the functionalities of the e-MEC system, and with the most current issues of Higher Education, whose knowledge is essential for Institutional Attorneys and for the evolution of the quality indicators of the Higher Education Institutions in which they work.
The entire course was conducted and supervised by the Director of Edux, Iara Xavier, who contributed at all times with precious information, which only she, due to her extensive experience in the sector, is able to provide.
The first day of the course was attended by Sólon Caldas, Executive Director of ABMES, who provided full support from the Association's Team, represented by Simone Silva and Bruno Coimbra throughout the event.
Soon after the opening, Module I was addressed by the speakers who highlighted the importance of HEIs opening themselves to all possibilities and fighting dropout in distance learning courses. Paulo Chanan analyzed data from the 2018 Higher Education Census, recently released. In the afternoon, Patrícia Villas Boas, Director of Edux, spoke about the role and importance of the IP in the success of the processes of Higher Education institutions, and Victor Vidal detailed the procedures in the e-MEC. At the end, the participants were divided into groups to exchange experiences through the solution of situations based on real cases.
Very engaged after the dinner offered by Edux at the end of the first day, the course participants, on the second day, again debated about real cases, and delved into the e-MEC functionalities. After lunch break, Francislene Hasmann explained about ENADE, its challenges, specific data and the importance of raising awareness of the entire academic community and appropriation by the Institutional Attorneys of the IES.
During the course, space was also opened to approach the recently published ordinances, namely, ordinances n. 1,715, of October 2, 2019, on procedures for classifying courses, and Ordinance no. 1,717 and 1,718 of October 8, 2019, which deal with technical professional education.
They were, without a doubt, two days of much learning and exchange, which effectively contributed to everyone's growth. EDUX received recognition from the participants, who left satisfied and happy, despite the intense work. The idea was precisely to qualify the HEI interlocutors, to make the dialogue more fruitful, and to fulfill the social role of promoting trust in the role of education and seeking excellence.
