The book written by Professor Agnaldo Junior, brings a field study, carried out in state schools on the north coast of the state of Bahia, and presents, discusses and approaches knowledge about how to improve the performance and attention of students and teachers in the area of Sciences. of Nature and Mathematics through the use of ICT in the classroom.
Entre Rios - BA, June 05, 2021 – We know that the rapid technological changes that have taken place in the last two decades have allowed students, especially those who attend high school, to acquire knowledge and use more developed technology habits than those of any other educational actors.
Students, who currently attend state schools in the state of Bahia, have already acquired, throughout their lives, in the school environment and/or in the family environment, important technological knowledge. The computer, the internet, smartphones or iPods, social networks and blogs are already part of the daily lives of these young people, who are seen in these resources. Thus, digital literacy is a reality that enters schools every day, instead of being a process initiated by them. Young people are already technologically and digitally literate, and schools are responsible for making them scientifically and mathematically literate.
Technology and science go hand in hand, and students' familiarity with the former can and should be used by teachers to promote a taste for the latter in students. From this point of view, it is important to know the physical conditions existing in schools, the way in which teachers and students perceive them and what use is being given to technologies in different contexts.
“In this work, Professor Agnaldo invites us on an interesting journey through the world of new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) used by Mathematics and Natural Science teachers and their Technologies (Biology, Physics and Chemistry) in High Schools states on the North Coast of the State of Bahia.” (Professor Jorge Luiz da Costa Lopes).
“The author brings in this work, in a light and thought-provoking way, a survey on the use of ICT that teachers of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and their Technologies have done during their classes [...] and how many ICTs are used in the classroom and, with that, from the perspective of the teachers interviewed, if this use improves the attention and learning of their students. The search for this understanding also brings us a vision of how easy it is for the teacher to prepare and apply these technologies within the classroom.” (Professor Walsiler Sales Silva).
The author manages to show in his work, the improvement of the quality and the effectiveness of ICT in the promotion and in the development of competences in the subjects of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and their Technologies. Thus, in addition to direct results regarding the correct use of these tools that ICTs bring, you will find information about gender, age group, working time and profile of teachers who use ICT in the classroom or not, to teach their subjects.
The work does not aim to bring all the answers, because I believe that no one has them! However, we must continue reading and seeking new answers to these and other concerns presented during teaching practice. In this way, we will appreciate and dialogue with this excellent and timely work, in the search for great exchanges of experiences.
The research carried out by Professor Agnaldo was carried out from 2016 and ended in 2018, therefore, before the COVID 19 pandemic, and certainly reading this work can help teachers and students in the area of education to think about better use of ICT at this time in which we live (remote classes and distance learning classes). So have a great read and also draw your conclusion about the work.
